The Millennium Fund was created in 1999 as a consequence of the agreement between ISE and Elsevier Ltd., which established that the Publisher will make an annual payment to the Society. The use of the Millennium Fund is under the direct responsibility of the Executive Committee.
Since its inception, the Millennium Fund has been used for supporting individuals and sections in a less favourable economic situation. For instance, thanks to the Millennium Fund, some Regional Representatives have been provided with the subscription to a printed copy of Electrochimica Acta, for the use of the whole membership in their country and, on the occasion of recent Annual Meetings, the registration fee of ISE members in less favourable economic conditions has been paid.
The policy of the Executive Committee is that the Millennium Fund continues to be used for supporting special projects and members in less rich countries. Surprisingly, applications have been less numerous than expected. Therefore, all Regional Representatives and individual members are invited to submit proposals for actions to be supported by the Millennium Fund. These proposals must be sent to the Executive Secretary of the Society, Dr. Marco Musiani (e-mail: m.musiani@ieni.cnr.it).
Presidential Fund
The Presidential Fund was created in 2002 thanks to a donation made by Prof. Dieter Kolb, and has been used since then, as well as in the near future, to support ISE members who, due to economic difficulties, cannot continue to pay their membership dues.
ISE members who wish to have their membership dues paid by the Presidential Fund must send an application to the ISE Office (info@ise-online.org). The decision on such applications is made by the Past-President of the Society and is communicated to the members by the ISE Office.
